Where does sea moss come from?


Sea moss the name of red algae, which natular areas are Atlantic coastlines of North America, Caribbean Islands and Europe. Since 19 century Irish harvesting red algae on the rocky shores, using moss in medicine. People used it during famine times to restore nutrients and even specially grew it in the underwater fields.

In cosmetic and food industry, mainly used sea moss from Caribbean area, considering as the most friendly environmental zone. Also, increased demand for sea moss has recently led to the emergence of sea moss farms, which typically located in Caribbean countries. These farms produce sea moss in artificial pools with sea water, or fenced bays, closed to marine vessels.
